How to use it
Customary land can be farmed securely but is rarely accepted as loan security. Plan finance that does not rely on the land itself, such as contract farming or equipment finance.

Communal areas in former homelands remain under traditional authority.
Country notes
Customary tenure covers most rural land in Zambia and large areas of Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
